We are so excited you are interested in El Centro & the Pride Resource Center’s “Here, Together | Juntos Aquí” Retreat!

Date: Saturday, February 3, 2024
Time: 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM MST (in person)
Location: Primrose Studio at Reservoir Ridge Natural Area

This one-day retreat will focus on coalition building & relationship building.

We will be discussing gender, sexuality, Latinidad and the relationships between our communities. Students of all identities are welcome to attend!

Here, Together | Juntos Aquí Retreat

Purpose

ALAS are a metaphorical representation for the growth, empowerment, and uplifting experiences that El Centro hopes Latinx/e students experience in pursuit of their academic and personal aspirations at Colorado State University.  

The purpose of the ALAS Leadership Retreat is to ground Latinx/e students at Colorado State University in the strengths, skills and wealth of knowledge they bring at the start of their journey at CSU. During this 2-day experience participants will begin to build a foundation for their continued success at CSU rooted in comunidad, empowerment, cultural pride and self-awareness. 

Program Outcomes

As a result of participating in the ALAS Leadership Retreat. 

  • Students will have an opportunity to network and grow their comunidad  that positively impacts their overall sense of belonging at CSU. 
  • Students will continue to develop a sense of awareness and reflection that guides their leadership journey as they navigate CSU  
  • Students will gain a greater sense of empowerment and cultural pride that promotes self-advocacy at CSU and beyond 

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will understand the different forms of capital that they are grounded in using Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth Model as a form of empowerment 
  • Students will be able to articulate their own personal definition of leadership
