Abya Yala: Latinx/Indigenous Peoples Conversations

background is tan. On each side are brilliant sun designs. Along the top are circles and dots in green with an outline of Latin America. Along the bottom are the logos for El Centro and NACC.

Abya Yala (Latinx/Indigenous Peoples Conversations) are a special partnership between El Centro and the Native American Cultural Center aimed at creating space for all students with a focus on the experiences of Indigenous Students from Latin America!

Latinidad and Indigeneity is wonderfully complex, unique, and strong, just like you.

Our two offices are here so you can reshape, reclaim, create and occupy both physical and symbolic space in our Centers!

All El Centro’s programs are open to all students!

Abya Yala means “living land” or “land that flourishes,” which the Kuna people of Colombia and Panama called the region in their language.  As part of an Indigenous Peoples’ resistance movement, there was an agreement to return to calling the region Abya Yala.
