Mayra Orozco
Mayra Orozco
Mayra Orozco was born and raised in Fort Collins Colorado giving her strong ties to the community. She is a mother to four children ranging from seven to twelve. Her father is a descendant of Jalisco Mexico, and her mother is a descendant of San Jose California with roots to the Yaqui tribe in Arizona. She is a proud Mexica and Indigenous woman. She obtained her degree as a medical specialist in 2016 and worked in the medical field for two years. She has lived experience with childhood trauma, mental health adversities, and as a result she has found her voice as an activist and advocate for BIPOC community members (Black, Indigenous, People of Color, inclusive of Hispanic/Latinx & Biracial or multicultural) who have lost touch with their roots. She’s made it her mission to spread awareness of ancestral practices and racial equity. She’s a community engagement coordinator at the BIPOC alliance. You can find her doing activities with her family, reading, and playing kickball with her five siblings, their spouses, and children.
