El Centro’s Inclusive Fellowship Program
Description of Fellowship
The El Centro Fellowship is an academic project-based scholarship given to one (1) or more undergraduate, degree-seeking students enrolled at least part-time at the Colorado State University-Fort Collins campus. The successful applicants will be committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice and will learn how to apply these important tenants to the work of El Centro. The award recipients will help support projects aligned with El Centro’s mission, which is to provide support for the Latinx/e community at CSU and Fort Collins by encouraging student engagement, academic success, cultural pride, empowerment, and volunteer/leadership opportunities while striving to promote an inclusive environment focused on awareness and understanding of the Latinx/é, Afro-Latinx/é, Chicanx/é and Hispanic experience.
Projects could include:
- Design and implement events for the El Centro Community focused on cultural pride and empowerment.
- Design and implement programs that facilitate volunteer opportunities for the El Centro community.
- Design and implement programs that facilitate leadership opportunities for the El Centro community.
- Design and implement strategies to improve an inclusive environment within the community served by El Centro.
Description of Eligible Students
- Undergraduate students admitted into a degree-seeking program and are at least part time.
- Demonstrated and proven involvement in El Centro already, based on enrollment in our programs.
- Certified Volunteer in El Centro’s Volunteer program.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity/social justice as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources and/or accountability.
- Direct experience with the Latinx/é, Afro-Latinx/é, Chicanx/é population.
- Direct experience with the undocumented population.
- First-generation and limited income background.
- Demonstrated financial need.
- We will prioritize those who do not have (or had) on- or off-campus employment or paid internships.
Application Deadlines:
- Applications and projects are reviewed and approved in preparation for the upcoming semester.
